As you may be aware, we have recently announced improvements to our
ranking system. We have aggregated our Alexa Toolbar usage data with
traffic data from other, diverse sources in order to better depict
traffic patterns across the entire Web. We have, among other
improvements, normalized our data to correct for potential biases
present in the former system. One significant change is that our data
now better represents traffic to sites by users who would not have been
likely to use the Alexa Toolbar. For this reason, some sites whose
traffic was formerly under-estimated by our data are now better
represented; the converse will also apply in some cases.

While we understand that a diminished ranking is a disappointment for
some sites, we believe our data is now more reliable. We hope this more
accurate picture of your site's traffic relative to traffic patterns
across the entire Internet will be a useful metric for your site's
future growth.
